Amazon Web Services
May 2018 – Current
Data Tech Operation Technician
I was brought onto Amazon Web Services when I started my internship in September of 2018. After 3 months of my internship, I was rehired by an AWS sub-contractor (Apex Systems) for another 3 months. Thereafter, I was hired directly by Amazon Web Services. While working for AWS I oversaw and trained new hires, in addition to replacing server motherboards, CPU, ram, power supply, hard drives, and solid-state drives; at multiple data centers in Oregon. Regarding networking, I replaced and inspected fiber optic cables such as LS and SC; multi-mode or single-mode, as well as LC and QSFP optics. I also dealt with network switches from console management to server management switches. Among other things, I contributed in meetings by recommending improvements or alternative approaches to current or outdated processes.
Fun Fact: This website (fabioalfaro.com) runs on an AWS Ec2 Instance I created.

From 2016 to May of 2018 I worked at Amazon’s Call center (PSC) as a customer service associate (CSA). I was responsible for filing tickets for unknown issues regarding customer accounts, orders, and items. I walked customers through various troubleshooting steps on their computers (Windows & Mac OS). I regularly fixed devices such as Echo, Fire Tv, Fire Tablets, and Amazon apps. After working in Customer Service for 6+ years, I felt it was time to move towards a more complex environment. Therefore, after completing my associates; I applied for Amazon Web Services and continued therein.
